Languages and Religion: Italian is spoken all over the territory. Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Italian Constitution, although the majority of the population is Catholic. Other religions also practiced in Italy include Islam, Judaism, Protestantism, and Hinduism, all of which have places where to conduct their rituals.
Currency: The local currency is Euros (EUR). In general, most places accept card payments with VISA and MASTERCARD and most European national bank cards. You can use cash machines at the bank offices to withdraw cash with your bank card.
Electrical Appliances: The electricity supply in Italy is AC 220 volts, 50 Hertz. Sockets meet European regulations and use the round pin system. However, most hotels have adaptors for different plugs. Make sure that the electrical appliances you are going to use (computers, mobile phone chargers, shavers…) work at this voltage.
Time Zone: The time zone on the Italian mainland and the Balearic Islands is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) + 1 hour in winter and + 2 hours in summer.

Health Care and Safety: Drinking water supply is guaranteed throughout Italy. We have stringent control systems that guarantee water quality. Nevertheless, in some Mediterranean coastal areas consumption of bottled water is widespread. As an EU citizen, the Italian health system will receive you like local citizens when you present a European Health Insurance Card and an ID document from your own country. By Air
L’Aquila is a city in the center of Italy, about 110 Km (68 miles) to the east of Rome and about 100 Km (62 miles) to the west of Pescara.

Fiumicino Airport (Rome)
- Gaspary Bus: Five daily buses connect Rome Fiumicino to L’Aquila. The service is provided by Gaspary Bus. The duration is about 2h. Be aware that the Gaspari bus stops at “L’Aquila Amiternum” and you must take a taxi to reach the venue.
- Flix Bus: Four daily Flix buses connect Rome Fiumicino to L’Aquila. The service is provided by Flix Bus. The duration is about 2h:15 min. As in the case of the Gaspari bus, the Flix bus also stops at “L’Aquila Amiternum” and you will need a taxi to reach the venue
- TUA: Coach service, provided by TUA, with several lines running throughout the day). In this case, you will have first to catch a train to “Tiburtina train station” (Stazione Tiburtina, in Italian) in East Rome, where TUA coaches leave for L’Aquila. TUA stops at “L’Aquila Collemaggio”, from where the venue can be easily reached. The city center (i.e., Fontana Luminosa and Hotel Castello) is 1.5 Km away.

- Flix Bus: Four daily Flix buses connect Rome Ciampino to L’Aquila. The service is provided by Flix Bus. The duration is about 2h. As in the case of the Gaspari bus, the Flix bus also stops at “L’Aquila Amiternum” and you will need a taxi to reach the venue
- TUA: Coach service, provided by TUA, with several lines running throughout the day). Abruzzo International Airport (Pescara)
This airport is located near Pescara and about 119 km (74 miles) from L’Aquila, a 1h 20 min drive by car/bus on a motorway across the Appennine mountains. The airport is connected to the center of Pescara by Bus n. 8 and n. 38 line code GTM, with which you can reach Piazza Della Repubblica, the Bus Terminal to domestic and international destinations. From the Bus Terminal, several runs to L’Aquila (Bus Terminal Collemaggio) are available with TUA
From Rome Termini/Tiburtina

Take the underground (line B, Rebibbia – 4 stops) or the train to reach Rome Tiburtina. To reach L’Aquila from Rome Tiburtina, follow the instructions below.
Rome Tiburtina
There are three possibilities to easily reach L’Aquila from Rome Tiburtina:
- Gaspari Bus: Gaspari bus service will be available from the Roma Tiburtina bus station which is just outside the Roma Tiburtina train station. The duration is about 1h and 15 minutes. Be aware that the Gaspari bus stops at “Hotel My Suite (formerly hotel Amiternum)” and you will need to take a taxi to reach the venue. Gaspari Bus TimeTable – Click Here
- TUA: Outside the train station, there is also the TUA terminal bus. The TUA stops at “L’Aquila Collemaggio”, from where the venue can be easily reached. The city center (i.e., Fontana Luminosa and Hotel Castello) is 1.5 Km away. Online timetables and tickets can be found at TUA. TUA timetable is also available here
- FlixBus: Outside the train station, FlixBus services to L’Aquila will be available from Roma Tiburtina Bus Station. The bus stops at “L’Aquila Hotel My Suite (Formerly Hotel Amiternum)”, from where taxi services can be availed to reach the venue. Online timetables and tickets can be found on the Flixbus website.
By Car
L’Aquila can be reached either via motorway or road:
- from Rome: Motorway A24 Rome-L’Aquila Est (east);
- from Autostrada Adriatica (Motorway A14): Toll gate “Teramo-Giulianova” -> Motorway A24 to L’Aquila
- from Pescara: Motorway A25 Pescara-Popoli and then S.S 17 Bussi-L’Aquila;
- from Naples: Motorway A1 Rome-Napoli -> S.S 82 Ceprano-Sora-Avezzano -> Motorway Avezzano-L’Aquila A24/A25
